How does our training work?

FA Football training is designed as a football program where children develop gradually, just like they do in primary school. The program is structured around different age groups, with children taking a step forward in their development each season.

Each age group has a specific focus that aligns with the child's physical and mental development. This ensures that every child learns at their own pace and gains successful experiences.

Our program is divided into five age groups, each with its own color. These colors provide recognition, structure, and motivation. Each season, a child makes progress, at their own pace.

  • First introduction to football and exercise
  • Learn to dribble, run and control the ball in a playful way
  • Focus on fun, motor skills and a sense of achievement
  • Start a personal sticker book
  • First basic skills such as passing, dribbling and shooting.
  • Small competition formats to learn to play together.
  • Dealing with challenges in a playful way and building perseverance.
  • Sticker book remains part of the motivation.
  • More technology, insight and collaboration.
  • Introduction to positioning and game understanding.
  • Transition to the Football Growth Book: a booklet that tracks progress.
  • Preparation for competitive football.
  • Learning to perform under pressure and mental resilience.
  • Refining technique and completing the training.
Each age group has its own shirt color. This gives children clarity about their level and encourages them to progress to the next step. At each transition, they receive a new shirt in the corresponding color. class="fr-no-borders fr-alternate-rows">AgeColorFocusU3BlueDiscover through play

This system helps children to understand in a visual and playful way where they are in their development and motivates them to grow into the next color.

At FA Football Training, each child receives a new colored shirt for each new team, matching their age group and developmental stage. This ensures that children not only see but also truly feel that they have made progress. The color system makes their growth tangible and motivates them to work on to the next stage.

When a child progresses to a higher group, they receive a shirt in the new team color. This reinforces the sense of progress and helps them feel connected to their team and level. This keeps motivation high and there is always a clear goal to work towards!

Children learn best when they are motivated. That's why we work with two powerful reward systems at FA:

Sticker Book (U3 & U4) – The First Steps in Motivation
For the youngest children (U3 & U4), we have a sticker book. Every time a child learns a new skill or puts in a good effort, they receive a sticker for the book during the last training session of the month.
  • This encourages the joy of learning and helps children stay motivated.
  • Children work towards a full sticker book, which leads to a reward from the treasure chest! This system lays the foundation for self-confidence and perseverance. At FA Football training, children learn a new skill every month that suits their age and level. We call this the Exercise of the Month. During the month, the children work on this specific technique or movement. By practicing regularly, they develop their skills step by step. If a child performs the exercise well or puts in extra effort, they earn a sticker for the sticker book. This system not only helps children improve at soccer, but also develop perseverance and pride in their own growth. At the end of a full month, they can look back with pride on what they've learned and show off their new skill!

Soccer Growth Log (U5 to U6) – Tracking Development
From U5 onwards, children switch to the Soccer Growth Log, which tracks their development during training.
    • This shows the child's learning goals and progress.
    • Coaches can provide additional guidance or challenges based on the growth log.
    • At the end of the season, children receive an assessment and advice for their next step in the academy.
The Star System – Making Growth Visible
At FA Football Training, children build on their development using our unique 6-star system. This system is linked to progress over multiple seasons.

    How the star system works:
    • Start with a shirt without stars
    • Each child begins training with a blank shirt. This symbolizes a fresh start.

    Earn one star per season
A child earns a star at the end of the season if:
    • Actively participated for the full season.
    • Completely fill in the sticker book (U3/U4) or growth book (U5 to U6).
    • De vaardigheden van elke maand beheerst en kan laten zien.

Volgende seizoen = nieuw shirt + extra ster
